Leading Indicators Index Ends Year on an Up Note

As 2008 took its final bow, the Leading Economic Indicators Index showed a modest increase, climbing from 99.0 in November to 99.5 in December. Four of the 10 indicators that comprise the index increased in December, with the largest positive contributor being the real money supply; manufacturers’ new orders for consumer goods and materials also rose.
